There's a lot of talk in our community about what we're not doing right, and not nearly enough talk about what we are doing right. We, at UPD, are here to tell you that we're getting a whole lot right, and here are three dynamic women that absolutely proves it.

Meet Ashley Derby, Kayal Griffin, and Adaobi Gwacham each are Chick-Fil-A franchise owners.

At age 26, Ashley Derby became Chick-Fil-A's youngest franchise owner. Ashley began her career with the company in her home town of Atlanta, Ga . at the age of 15. It was there Ashley developed her passion for supporting her team and supporting their success.

Ashley continued working for the company while attending Spelman College . A manager suggested she join the Chick-Fil-A leadership team and the rest, as they say, is history.

At age 33, Ashley is now ready to open her second location in Down Town L.A.

Kayla Griffin

A Florida native, Kayla Griffin, was an athlete with an eye on on pursuing a career in recreational or professional sports. That all changed when Griffin took a part time job with Chick-Fil-A .

Griffin is now the Owner/Operator of a Chick-Fil-A restaurant in Venice, CA overseeing close to 100 team members. Griffin stuck out a nearly four year interview and training process to become a CFA franchisee. She credits that process with helping her grow both personally and professionally.

Nigerian born Adaobi Gwacham is no stranger to adversity. Growing up in Nigeria was difficult but it was all she knew. Gwacham and her family moved to the U.S. in 1999 after winning a visa lottery. During High School, a Chick-Fil-A Operator noticed Gwacham working in a local fast food restaurant. Impressed by her positive attitude and work ethic, the CFA operator recruited Gwacham to his team. After graduating from California Baptist University, Gwacham became more involved in the corporate side of CFA. In 2014, Gwacham became the first franchise owner of a Chick-fil-A at E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasedena, California. Gwacham now offers 401k's to eligible employees and has one of the lowest turn over rates.
